Greetings from the Clermont College Orphaned Opossum Project Home Page!
Two Orphans

In July of 1998 these baby opossums (and their two sisters) were rescued from the side of the road by Dr. Fankhauser (a Biology Professor here at Clermont College). We (students in Summer Biology Lab 114) were guided by our professor, Ms. Carter in an attempt to raise and release these baby opossums. Wildlife rehabilitation is very difficult. The baby opossums did not make it through the summer. However, each of us has developed a new fondness and appreciation for wild animals and the people who work to rehabilitate them. It has been a very interesting experience that even sparked a visit to our local zoo to see the opossum who lives there. For more information on opossums, or if you would like to become familiar with our project, please see our Web page.
